Important Customs Info When Importing into Canada

At ShiptoDR.com, we’re here to make your shipping experience as smooth and easy as possible! When shipping goods to Canada, all items must go through Canada Customs and be declared by you, the customer. Here’s how the process works:

  1. Make a Booking Online: The first step is to make a booking on our website. Once you've made your booking, we’ll take care of the rest!
  2. We Schedule the Pickup: After you book, we’ll reach out to schedule a convenient time to pick up your goods from your location.
  3. We Ship Your Goods: Once we pick up your goods, we’ll safely ship them to Canada.
  4. We Send You Shipping Documents: After shipping, we’ll send you all the necessary shipping documents.
  5. You Clear Customs: When your goods arrive in Canada, you’ll need to clear them through customs. To ensure smooth customs clearance, you must be physically present in Canada and present the following documents to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA):
    • Passport: To confirm your identity.
    • Proof of Residency: This could include Canadian citizenship, permanent resident card, work or student visa, or proof of home purchase or rental agreement in Canada.
    • Packing List: A detailed inventory of the items being shipped, including descriptions and approximate values.
    • Customs Declaration (Form BSF186): Complete the Goods to Follow section for items arriving after the person. All personal effects must be declared at the time of entry into Canada.
    • Proof of Ownership: For personal use items, this can include receipts or documentation showing the items have been owned for at least 12 months (for returning residents or immigrants).

Important Note: You must declare all your personal effects and other items accurately at the time of customs entry. The items must be for personal use and not for resale.
